Fletcher knew that key to the English version was casting a believable Princess Mononoke, the young forest dweller who transforms from an angry, beast-like warrior to a brave woman coming to terms with her own human nature. “Claire Danes brings an incredible raw anger and passion and righteousness to the role – so much so that you really understand why she is so fierce, so torn, and how she comes to be willing to die for what she believes in,” says Fletcher. “Claire’s vocal performance perfectly embodies all that the Princess is and yearns for.”
